Some suggestions and ideas of things to do, see and visit this Summer in Dublin.

ImageAirfield Farm are hosting family activities every day this July and August. Nature trails, meeting the animals, painting outdoors and gardening are all on the agenda and August is picnic month on the farm! So bring your picnic along with you!

ImageGet Giddy this summer with Giddy Studios! Giddy now has two studios one in Rathfarnham and Dundrum and offer a fun place where the whole family can paint their own pottery masterpieces. Giddy are also running camps throughout July and August and will also be offering free workshops in Hamleys and Dublin Airport during the Summer.

ImageKennedys Farm Maize Maze has opened for the 2011 season. With and adult and childs maze, this is a unique day out. Explore the maze, bring a picnic or bbq, meet the farm animals all with panoramic views of Dublin.

ImageThe ever popular Viking Splash tour is the only tour of Dublin that covers land and sea! Fabulous fun for all ages, don your viking hat and get ready to roar!!

ImageWitness the magic and delight of a real chocolate factory at Butler's Chocolate Experience - see how chocolate is made, visit the interactive mini chocolate factory, learn about chocolate decoratation and put your new skills to the test by decorating your own chocolate bear, guaranteed to thrill and enrapture all little chocolate lovers!

ImageLearn more about the underwater world with Marine Dimensions this Summer. As well as running exciting summer camps to learn more about marine biology, Marine Dimensions are also hosting a series of family events and workshops.

ImageDublin has a great selection of playgrounds. Instead of sticking to your local playground, check out the huge amount of them across the city and try and visit a new one each week! Free fun that children never tire of, what more can you ask for!

ImageDublinia hosts three exciting exhibitions, learn all about medieval and Viking Dublin with these  interactive and interesting exhibitions. Well worth a visit.

ImageWe are spoilt in Dublin with of the four National Museums of Ireland here in the city. Admission is free all three Museums - Decorative Arts and History in Collins Barracks, Natural History on Merrion Road and Archaeology on Kildare Street. There is a fantasic summer programme of events with exhibitions, tours, workshops and more for the whole family.

ImageSt Enda's Park in Rathfarnham is one of Dublin's hidden jewels. A stunning park that also is home to the Patrick Pearse Museum. The building is the old school run by Patrick Pearse and its open daily with free admission and is well worth a visit. Also there is a coffe shop on the grounds with an outdoor courtyard which is a lovely spot for coffee/lunch/ice cream. The park is hosting a summer music festival every Sunday in July and August from 3pm-5pm with free music perfomances.

ImageThe Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show takes place in the RDS from Aug 3rd-7th. A great day out for the whole family with free kids entertainement, international show jumping, music, pony rides and more! There is a special offer family ticket available to the show.

 

ImageThe Dart day out- Buy a family ticket from Dublin Bus and have a dart day out- Check out the seals in Howth, Malahide Castle has a fantatic playground, Stroll around the Dublin Docklands and check out the Jeannie Johnson of the The wheel of Dublin from Grand Canal Station, then out to Dun Laoghaire for an ice cream from Teddy's and a stroll on the pier, and out to Bray- for some fish and chips, can't beat a Dart Day on a summers day!

ImageOutdoor Movies take place every Wednesday in Dundrum Town Centre from July 13th. Family movies take place at 5pm. Several restaurants in Dundrum are providing take out meals, so dine al fresco and enjoy a movie classic  in the evening sun.

ImageA great way to spend an afternoon is up visiting the animals in the Dublin Dspca in the Dublin mountains. You can walk around the farm, see the animals and the wonderful staff always have time for a chat and to tell children about the animals.

ImageThere is a nice selection of family shows and perfomances in Dublin over the Summer - Peter Pan is at the Grand Canal Theatre, Riverdance is on at The Gaiety,The Little Big Club comes to The Olympia and The Helix are hosting a Roald Dahl film season in August.
